2014 USTA Tennessee Mixed Doubles State Tennis Championships Coming to Nashville Sept 12-14

Nashville will welcome more than 600 men and women September 12 – 14 for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Tennessee State Mixed Doubles Championships. The tournament is sponsored by Tennis Nashville and includes teams from across the state.

To participate in the tournament, teams consisting of three courts with a partnership of a man and a woman on each court, have won the division at their local competition. The teams are divided by age level (18 and up, 40 and up, 55 and up, 65 and up) and by combining the NTRP levels* of the two players, 6.0 – 10.0.  The team winners continue their Southern Sectional Championships.
Matches will be played on outdoor courts at The Centennial Sportsplex Tennis Center, Hadley Park Tennis Center and Tennessee State University, with the main tournament headquarters located at the Sportsplex.  The public is invited to come to the courts and watch.
The tournament format consists of a round robin among teams of the same level.  If a level has two flights, a round robin is played in each flight, with the winner of both flights continuing to a championship match.  The official schedule will be posted on Friday, September 5.
Nashville’s Community Tennis Association (CTA), Tennis Nashville is the official sponsor of the event and is providing the volunteers. For additional information about tennis in Nashville, visit the Tennis Nashville website, www.tennisnashville.net.
