Nashville Tennis Meetup (NTM) was founded in January 2011 as a way for tennis enthusiasts to find other players at their skill level for pickup singles and doubles matches. Since its founding, the membership has grown to over 600 and become one of the top 100 active tennis organizations nationally at meetup.com.
The group usually has 4 to 6 meetups scheduled each week open to all levels of players, one of which is primarily for Beginners and Advanced Beginners. The focus is on social tennis and just having fun. With tennis being a life-long sport, these meetups are a way for players in the community to meet others in a fun and informal, but still competitive, playing environment.
Many of the group members also belong to the USTA and other tennis organizations. In fact, some team captains find that NTM is a good recruiting area to find new team members!
NTM encourages active participation from all members to keep the group alive and growing. To join, all someone has to do is visit the website and sign-up. There is no cost to join. Members receive regular notices of scheduled meetups by email, as well as seeing them posted on the website.
All NTM members also have new meetup event scheduling privileges, so if one of the scheduled meetups does not match up with the time you have available to play, you can schedule your own meetup at a convenient court location. Members can also post messages in the NTM Discussion Group to see what other members are doing, and link up for a match.
If you want to find someone to play tennis with at your level, but do not have time for league play, Nashville Tennis Meetup is a great way to stay active in the sport.
